At 8N Lofts in Lincoln Nebraska they need, among other things, a 4,200 square foot all-inclusive clubhouse, a sky deck with a jumbo LED TV, a fitness center, an outdoor climbing wall, and courtyards that serve as outdoor entertaining spaces. Of course those courtyards must include a pergola protected bike storage, ping pong table, outdoor kitchen, a fire pit, rock climbing, sitting areas, and a wood deck to enjoy the fresh air.
More importantly, those courtyards must be colorful, appealing, durable, wear resistant and fade resistant, Stephens and Smith, working with CSO Architects and Hausmann Construction, used Bomanite decorative concrete to fulfill all of the requirements. 8N Lofts derives its name from being located near the city’s Historic Haymarket District on 8th and N Street and is a service-driven student living community. In keeping with the name, two separate courtyards were created in the shape of a number eight.
The patterns used to achieve the stunning effect were Bomacron Herrington Used Brick and Bomacron Running Bond Used Brick with a circular design to achieve the shape of the number eight. The building colors and the outside decor were complimented by the use of Bomanite Color Hardeners in Coquina and Natuarl Gray with Bomanite Release Agents in Mexican Tile and French Gray.
